Today, I am reading and commenting on Luke 8.
I have a Youtube video of me reading the Scripture passage and my comments. Please check it out and let me know your thoughts.

I did not want to write my thoughts about the Parable of the Sower because I don’t like where it takes me. Often when I read the Parable of the Sower, whether here or in the other Gospels, I wonder if I represent the seed sown among the thorns, or perhaps even the seed sown on the rocky soil. I wonder it partly because I do not see myself as yielding a hundredfold. I can look over my life and see a few people who I witnessed to in a way which represents what Jesus means when He says that the seed yielded something, but I cannot see me having the sort of impact on people that those I see as truly walking with God have had, and I am not talking about those who had great ministries (such as the ex-con I know who became a missionary in Mexico and planted several churches there). I think instead of my father, who was not a leader in the wider Church, but who was frequently consulted by those who were (and it is not just that he was consulted by church leaders it is the things he did which led those leaders to value his wisdom). I just don’t hold up to that comparison. I have failed to truly impact the world in even the small way that he did (and not just my father, but other men I have seen who served the Lord better than I). Sometimes I look and think I am like the seed sown on rocky soil. Fortunately, I can look at my life and see the times when I faced the sort of opposition which Jesus is talking about (not to the degree some have, but still some) and stood my ground. However, I do still wonder if I have allowed the things of this world to distract me from serving God as I should, to distract me from bearing fruit the way God desired of me? So, when I read the Parable of the Sower it challenges me to do more with the gifts which God has given me.
