Today, I am reading and commenting on Ezekiel 9-12.

As I was reading today’s passage I thought about the people who think that the four living creatures which Ezekiel saw were some kind of alien UFO (or UFOs).  The problem with theory is that, unlike some other prophets,  Ezekiel clearly specifies that he was having a vision when he saw them.  In fact Ezekiel received most of his prophecies as visions, and he clearly states this to be the case.

Now I want to look at what Ezekiel’s vision tells us.  He describes God sending out an angel from the temple to go throughout Jerusalem and mark those who had cried and moaned over the abominations committed in the city of Jerusalem.  He sent out after them angels to kill everyone who did not have His mark on their forehead.  (I want to note that the Mark of the Beast in the Book of Revelation parallels this mark.  Hopefully I will remember that parallel when I get to the Book of Revelation.)  Next God sent the first angel with fiery coals from the presence of God to be cast over the entire city of Jerusalem bringing fire upon the entire city.  Only after burning the entire city did the Glory of the Lord depart from the temple.  So, God’s presence is still present with those upon whom He is allowing judgement to come, even as that judgement comes upon them.   God’s presence was there for the people of Jerusalem to turn to Him, even as his agents were going forth to strike down those who had rejected Him.  Even then, even as God sends His judgement upon us, we can turn to Him.  Even then it is not too late.
