Today, I am reading and commenting on  Ezekiel 29-31.

In today’s passage, Ezekiel prophesies the destruction of Egypt at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar.  He says that this will happen because Egypt had failed to provide the support to the people of Israel which they had promised to be.  This needs to be seen as an important lesson to those who believe there is no harm in abandoning a commitment of support made by their predecessors, even when such commitments were made foolishly.  If you inherit a position of authority from someone who had promised to provide support to others, and you believe providing that support does not suit the best interests of those involved, you must work with those to whom support was promised to wean them off of it so that they can support themselves (something you should be doing anyway).
